05 October 2016
We are very mindful of how activity of all kinds is very important, especially for children. Currently, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th class have their week swimming sessions.
Ger O’Shea will be with us again each Friday this year for G.A.A. coaching. From now until mid-term he will be coaching infants, 1st & 6th class.
After Christmas Carolanne will be with us each Monday for gymnastics for all classes.
Ms. O’Toole who is our “Active Schools” co-ordinator has arranged for a “skipping” workshop for all classes on Monday October 24th next. We hope to incorporate skipping more and more into break/lunch play time. At this workshop the pupils will learn different “skips” and get an opportunity to practise them. The cost of the workshop will be just €1 per child as the school will give 50% of the total cost.
From tomorrow morning and continuing each Thursday we will have our “Walk A Mile”. This means that when a pupil arrives to the yard she will put her bag down and then join with all the others in walking around the yard. Ten laps is approximately 1 mile. We hope to have 10 miles covered by Christmas!
What else is happening?
6th class have been to Mount Wolseley to see the “Volopa Challenge” and also to try their hand at golf.
Tamrinn Fegen in 6th won the “Supermacs” colouring competition. This meant that all 6th class were invited to a pizza making workshop. This was a great occasion for them. Well done Tamrinn!
Music Generation is proving really popular with all classes.
2nd class are going to visit the library on Friday next, 7th to meet author Fiona Dillon and hear about her books.
