Scoil Mhuire Lourdes

Tullow, Co.Carlow

22 June 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thanks to those who have paid book bills.  I want to remind all those who are not buying their books through the school that they must pay the school section of the book bill.

For those who would like to pay money on Children’s Allowance Day (Tuesday July 7th) the school office will be open from

10.00a.m. – 1.30p.m. to accept payment.

The Parents Association have recently presented us with €600 which was collected at the Christmas Bag Pack.  This money will be used to purchase extra I.T. resources.

Ms. Murphy will not be returning to the school in September as she will be working in another school.  Her replacement during her absence will be Ms. Coen, who will be the full-time support teacher.

As Ms. O’Neill’s time with us is coming to an end we wish her the best of luck and offer sincere thanks for her great work and commitment during the last 6 months.

Please ensure all rented books and library books are returned to the school before the holidays.

Our holidays/breaks for the 15/16 school year will be posted on the school website  over the next few days.

Active Schools Week

Our Active School Week was a great success.  Every morning started with “Wake Up, Shake Up” led by Ms. O’Toole

Monday: all classes sampled tennis

Tuesday: The “Walk A Mile” challenge was completed by all

Wednesday: was our skipping day

Thursday: 3rd – 6th got a chance to experience skill training and were involved in matches while the junior classes spent some time in the Town Park using the outdoor gym and playground

Friday: was our Summer Olympics Day

During the week also 6th class finished off their FAI soccer coaching with a Blitz in Parkville.  There was also a GAA Blitz in Brother Leo Park for 3rd – 6th.

P.E. homework was very popular!

Thanks to the staff who encouraged the pupils to become involved in all the activities.  A special word of thanks to Ms. O’Toole who organised the week and got us all moving and shaking every morning.  She is already thinking ahead to next year!

We send best wishes to all the girls in 6th class.  We bid them a fond farewell and may success be with them as they start at second level in September.

As we are coming to the end of the school year and preparing for the next I ask you to let Fiona know of any change of address/phone nos so that your details can be kept up to date.

On behalf of staff, Board of Management and on my own behalf I would like to thank you all for your cooperation during the year.  I wish all the pupils and yourselves a very enjoyable and hopefully, fine summer.

School will close for the holidays on Friday June 26th at 12 noon and will reopen on Tuesday September 1st.

Signed:- Anne Kennelly
