Scoil Mhuire Lourdes
26 March 2014
Lent is well underway and, as usual, we are supporting the Trócaire Lenten Campaign. The children have been most generous in donating money by the colouring and displaying of our Lenten Angels and The Giving Tree (in the front hall). Our No-Uniform day last Friday brought in a super €412.24. Many thanks and well done to all. As well as supporting Trócaire, we also hope to buy and send a dairy goat to Africa through the charity “Bóthar”. Bóthar’s motto is “Helping People To Help Themselves”. They train and prepare families to receive the animal, and support the benefits.
♦ Green Schools Competition
Scoil Mhuire Lourdes have embraced their recent experiences with Music Generation and it was obvious when The Green Schools Committee ran a very successful competition where the girls had to design a musical instrument from recycled materials.
A green harp, drum kits, shakers, electric guitars and windpipes are some of the wonderful instruments that were designed and made by the girls. An orchestra just waiting for a conductor!
Well done to all who took part in the competition.
♦Seachtain na Gaeilge
We had a very worthwhile “Seachtain na Gaeilge” recently. All the cailíní made a great effort at speaking Gaeilge. To conclude the week we had a ceolchoirm (concert) sa halla. This showcased the great work being done by all. Maith sibh! (Well done).
♦Easter Holidays: School will finish at 12 noon on Friday, April 11th and reopen on Monday 28th April.
