Support Teachers – Ms. Fitzgerald

Our support hours have been cut even more so we will have just

5 hours support per week in addition to the above.  Because of this

Ms. Nolan will not be returning to the school.  We wish her the best of luck and offer sincere thanks for her great work and commitment during her years in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes.

Bookbills:  Bookbills will be given out tomorrow.  If you wish to order your books through the school, you must pay before the holidays.  Otherwise you will have to purchase books yourself during the holidays.  The difference between availing of the school rental scheme and buying the books yourself can be great especially in the older classes.

Please note: All pupils must pay the school section of the bill, even if buying the books themselves.

Please ensure that your daughter continues to wear correct school uniform.  Navy shorts may be worn instead of track suit bottoms on appropriate days.  White blouse/shirt or t-shirt only please.  Footwear must be appropriate for school – no clogs, flip-flops etc.

School reports will be given out at the end of the week.  This year the Department of Education has insisted we use a new format for reporting.  Please take time to read the report and take note of recommendations/comments by the teacher.  Your daughter’s teacher has worked with your child for the past year and has put a lot of time/effort into each report.

I have been asked by the County Library Service to encourage you to get your daughter to join the Summer Reading Challenge at the library.  It’s an initiative run during the holidays aimed at promoting reading and use of libraries during the summer holidays.  It is open to children from age 6 to 12.

Another local amenity which is a low cost option during the holidays is the Tennis Club.  Many varied activities are run during the holidays.

There are many items – cardigans, lunchboxes etc. left unclaimed.  Please get your daughter to check the ‘lost property’ box if you think she has lost/mislaid any items.

Please ensure all rented books and library books are returned to the school before the holidays.

We send best wishes to all the girls in 6th class.  We bid them a fond farewell and may success be with them as they start at second level in September.

As we are coming to the end of the school year and preparing for the next I ask you to let Fiona know of any change of address/phone nos so that your details can be kept up to date.

On behalf of staff, Board of Management and on my own behalf I would like to thank you all for your cooperation during the year.  I wish all the pupils and yourselves a very enjoyable and hopefully, fine summer.

School will close for the holidays on Friday June 27th at 12 noon and will reopen on Wednesday August 27th.
